Hi !firstname,

WOW - what a night! The first tournament of the season broke another record. This time, it was a family that brought home the bacon.

Jeff, Tina, and Andrew Criner won 1st place, big blue, lady angler, and junior angler prize. A total take home purse of $1,434.00 - Not too bad for a family team effort!

Anglers weighed a lot of catfish in the 40 pound range. Each fish appeared to be extremely healthy and each one were successfully released. The turn out was excellent, and this time we even had coffee to go with those bacon and egg sandwiches. Great Job Joseph Carey.

Congratulations goes to the Criner family, to all the winners, and to everyone who weighed a catfish. We look forward to seeing everybody return for our May 16th catfish tournament. Tell your friends about us, and invite them to come and experience a fun day.

Be sure to check out the tournament results in this issue and the new web site look. All the pictures and videos will soon be online to view.

Take a kid fishing!

5. Catfish Tips

During weigh-in at the April tournament, several winners from the past made a comment about catfish running with the bait, then suddenly dropping it.

99.9% of the time it's gotta be a bluecat. Blue catfish like to nest their food. They will smell the baitfish, nudge it, and softly put it in their mouth while taking it to their favorite place.

The territory each catfish selects to horde food for later ranges from a few feet to a couple hundred yards from your location.

If you experience a strong free spool run next time, let the catfish take it. Chances are, if you be patient, they will return to pick it up again. Except this time, it means business.
