Hi !firstname,
Welcome and thank you for subscribing to The Catfish Showdown Newsletter. The 2007 season is officially
closed, and what a great one it was. The season kicked off with Shannon Cates weighing in a massive 60.86 lb bluecat and nobody beat the new tournament record weigh-in.
Bubba Melton came in a modest second with an impressive 45.94 lb Bluecat. But, he was followed by Stacy Nelson with a mighty 40.26 lb Flathead. Jason Turner holds the third spot with a hefty 37.44 lb Bluecat.
Last but certainly not least, Chan Puryear weighed a whopping 36.46 lb Flathead at Carl's benefit tournament.

It was a great season and a pleasure working with all involved. The most important, is safety! We thought
all the catfishermen did an excellent job supporting and making sure safety was a concern at all times. Everyone kept an eye and ear out for each other, and that is what makes each tournament a great success - plus having fun, too!
The Kids Fishing Day went extremely well. It warms any person's heart to see all those kids catching fish while having fun.
64 - Staff members and support.
359 - Kids registered.
1,081 People attended.
It was a great day to be a kid at Staunton Park. Parents, guardians, family, cub scouts, and boy scouts come from far as Tennessee and Maryland to join in the fun.
Kids ages 13 and under celebrated their day with plenty of fishing, food, drinks, games, and toys galore!
We would like to take this time and say a special thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers who made this season a true success. Without your participation and support, this wouldn't be possible.
Please stay with us...we have a lot in store while in the winter pattern of catfishing. Take a few moments
and visit our forum. If you would like to share a few tips or join in on the discussions, we would like to
have you.

Take Your Marketing Efforts On A Fishing Trip
By Steven Boaze
Learning why the vast majority of marketing efforts fail is much like fishing. Whenever an angler plans a fishing trip, normally the right bait is chose. How many fish you catch is determined if you used the right bait. If we use bait that we think the fish should like, but the fish don't like it, they won't bite.
So what does this have to do with marketing for new clients and getting referrals? When we market whether it's ads, phone, mail, referrals, email, web sites, seminars, or whatever we are fishing. Going fishing you must find where they are. Then use the right bait they desire. Get the presentation of the bait in view, wait for the pick-up, set the hook, reel it in and land the fish.
If you try to skip anyone of these steps, you will not catch many fish. Sure, sometimes you can set the hook immediately, and get lucky once, however, if you learn how to tell exactly when to set the hook, you'll catch them every time. Simple intelligence and patience to know when the timing is right is all that matters.
If you have a fish hooked and try to reel in too fast with too much energy, the line will break. If you try to grab and land the fish before the net is ready, it will fall into the water, never to return. If you use bait the fish doesn't like, it'll never bite in the first place - And so on. There is absolutely nothing different about getting clients or fishing.
The fish will not be caught unless you follow very closely the steps necessary to catch them. You cannot change how fishing works. If the bait isn't what fish want, or what you're using is goes against their natural choice, they're not going to be caught.
Realistically, let's say you and a partner go fishing, and you purchased some top of the line, fancy lures you thought the fish should like. It turns out the fish would not bite your special lure. Your partner is using bait worms and catches a dozen fish. The only thing your partner can say is "Don't be upset, I guess the fish like worms." Unfortunately, we all do the same thing with our marketing.
We market with "professional" bait that we think the prospects should be interested in, and when they don't
reply, we complain. We act surprised they don't respond when we're using the bait we think they should like - not the bait they really want!

4.Catfish Cooking
Catfish fillets:
Seasoning measurements are based on 8 fillet servings, add or reduce depending on serving sizes.
3/4 tsp. lemon-pepper
3/4 tsp. garlic-pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne-pepper
salt
black pepper
1 egg for every 2 fillets
1. Add all the seasonings into a mixing bowl with the eggs.
2.Then put your fish in the egg-seasoning mix and let set in the fridge for 5 hrs.
3. Take the fillets out of the egg and into some flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
4. Sprinkle some more lemon pepper on top of the flour covered fillets.
5. Put them in a deep-fryer for about 7-10 min depending on size.
6. After they are done put them on some paper towels to let grease drain off.
7. Then enjoy with your favorite side dish.

5.Catfish Tips
The water level is down 7 feet from normal pool, and with hotter than normal temperatures, drives catfish
(and baitfish) to deeper waters.
If you can locate the thermacline on your graph, set suspended bait 2 feet above and 2 feet below the depth shown.
This works great for bluecats.
